The Brownstown Volunteer Fire Department has been serving the community since 1881. Brownstown, Indiana is located on US Highway 50 about 60 miles south of Indianapolis, in Jackson County. Brownstown is the county seat for Jackson County and has a population of approximately 3,000 residents.
The Brownstown Volunteer Fire Department not only serves the town of Brownstown but also Brownstown Township. The fire department has a vast array of equipment and trucks to provide the necessary services to the community. This equipment and trucks includes two engine/pumpers, one tanker for water shuttle, two brush trucks, and a rescue truck. The fire department has two sets of Hurst Rescue Tools for vehicle extrication. The department also has a mutual aid agreement with Jackson County EMS to provide medical assistance to the citizens in Brownstown and Brownstown Township.
